Technical assistant on intervention for children with disabilities
1. General information
Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP) is a non-governmental organization working mainly in the field of public health and social science (for more information, please see at http://ccihp.org).
With the support of the Canadian Grand Challenges Foundation (GCC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), CCIHP is implementing projects to support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Vietnam within 02 years (2019-2021).
The overall goal of project is to develop accessible, good quality and sustainable interdisciplinary rehabilitation services to support people living with disability (PWD), especially children (up to the age of 16) living with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) to thrive and reach their full potential. One of the project's components is to build effective interventions for children through capacity building for health workers, promoting family-centered interventions with the participation of parents, helping parents carry out rehabilitation activities and interventions for their children at home.
2. Scope of work
Capacity building activities
- Participate in supporting the development of training materials and instructional videos on intervention and rehabilitation for children
- Participate and perform the skill training courses for parents in provinces/cities, which usually take place at weekends;
- Conduct family visits and directly guide parents intervention skills for children; observe how parents intervene for their children at home and provide suggestions and feedback to improve their skills;
- Practice remote instruction by reviewing videos of the child's intervention made by parents and sending comments to them (on the system/platform set by the project);
Professional support for parents / caregivers
- Manage and coordinate facebook of parent group using A365: answer common questions of parents, maintain interaction with parents, forward parents’ questions to professionals in related fields of the project (in case the question is beyond your professional capacity)
- Manage and respond to emails of A365 website users at email addresses [email protected]
- Follow the facebook /fanpage/group related to intellectual disabilities/autism for feedback, answering questions related to A365 or introducing A365 to those groups;
- Participate in content development and answer the users’ questions on the Fanpage of the program (A365-Smart care for autistic children)
Assistance in monitoring, evaluation and administration
- Carry out pre - post assessments to see changes in parental intervention skills and changes in children
- Participate in supporting the organization of training activities, support monitoring, periodic data collection, research, evaluation, communication events in the field;
- Assist project staff, technical staff in operational planning, financial planning and settlement for field activities.
Other supports
- Give recommendation on the contents and functions of the website a365.vn;
- Participate in other tasks as required by the project management board as needed.
3. Qualifications
- University degree in rehabilitation (BA in rehabilitation), or Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, special education and related fields;
- At least 2 years of experiences, experience in early intervention and rehabilitation for children is desirable;
- Computer Skills Demonstrate the ability to work independently and cooperatively
- Good communication and presentation skills;
- Willingness to travel to different project sites frequently and work at the weekend.
4. Working place: in Ha Noi and in project sites
5. Working time: Full time, expected starting within November 2019
