COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
(Full-time employment contract)

We will continue to position ourselves as a premium organisation, with decentralized management. Our Global Support Unit (70 staff) backstops our teams around the world.
SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995, and currently has over 40 national and international staff, working on Agriculture and Renewable Energy projects, with a particular focus on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation and Gender Equality. SNV Vietnam operates from a head office in Hanoi, with branch offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat and implements projects in over 50 provinces in the country, including in the poorest and most remote areas.
SNV Vietnam is seeking a highly qualified national candidate to fill the position of Communications Officer in support of its programmes in Vietnam.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communication Management
- Update the Communications Strategy and Plan for the country. Ensure all SNV Vietnam project communication activities comply with donor and SNV communication and branding guidelines
- Support sector leaders and project managers to mainstream communication activities into sector and project strategies and plans. Provide technical advice and support to project managers/team leaders in planning and developing relevant information and communications products
- Develop key promotional messages and communications activities to support project implementation in consultation with project teams
2. Content Management
- Support drafting of brochures, capability statements, presentations, press releases, case studies, and other marketing materials in both English and Vietnamese
- Support the development of audio-visual presentations
- Coordinate, manage and monitor quality of SNV Vietnam publications and external communications activities (such as social media channels, events, campaigns). Assist in conducting awareness raising campaigns, events, and information dissemination workshops
- Work closely with the program managers in all communication related activities in each project.
- Manage and update the Knowledge Development Database and Information System.
- Take lead in communication field trips for collection of stories, pictures and video.
3. Online Communication
- Manage the SNV Vietnam and (where appropriate) project websites and ensure it is up to date with regular news items, relevant publications and attractive stories about SNV work and impact.
- Increase SNV’s presence on social media and national television channels including maintaining the SNV Vietnam Twitter account and project Facebook accounts. Consistently monitor the effectiveness and results of the use of various platforms.
4. Communication Support
- Provide training and coaching to SNV Vietnam staff and local partners/beneficiaries on effective external communication, photography/videography and use of social media.
- Foster good working relationships and partnerships with media agencies, relevant correspondents and journalists, and media/donor relations.
- Support teams with external communications during conferences, workshops and events
- Coordinate in exposure visits with donors and journalists/media trips.
- Liaise with communications team in Head Office to be align with global SNV strategy.
Candidate profile
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Foreign Language or other relevant degree
- At least 3 years of professional work experience in designing and executing communication activities, preferably in development programmes and/or with an international organisation
- Knowledge of and experience with media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
- Ability to propose and lead the development of innovative communication materials for specific projects, including consulting and collaborating with project managers for project needs, writing, designing and overseeing the communication production process for successful delivery
- Ability to take high quality photos of events (workshops, meetings) and at project sites for technical purposes
- Strong ability with Microsoft Office required; Experience with design software as well as SharePoint 365, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro
- Experience with communication/ creative agencies/ vendors will be added advantage
- Ability to work in a team and respond to tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment across multiple projects
- Successful candidate must be proactive, takes initiative, demonstrates good problem solving skills, and takes a creative approach to communications.
- Very good command of English and Vietnamese (both verbal and written)

Contract Duration:
1 year contract with the option of extension based on performance and budget availability.
Reporting: the position will report to the Country Director
