Background
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the lead United Nations agency on Migration, delivers and promotes comprehensive, preventive and curative migrant health programmes which are beneficial, accessible, and equitable for migrants and mobile populations.
IOM in Viet Nam implements migration health activities with the goal of enhancing the Vietnamese government capacity to promote and support local community responses to address migration health related challenges. In 2019, the Ministry of Health (MOH), Viet Nam, IOM and World Health Organization jointly undertook the Situation Analysis of Migrant Health in Viet Nam which aimed to identify health needs, gaps and priorities for future migrant health planning. The findings from the analysis were shared with other ministries, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and academia at a validation workshop in December 2019.
In order to build on and ensure the sustainability of the findings attained under the Situation Analysis of Migrant Health in Viet Nam, IOM, MOH and WHO plan to continue carrying out migrant health initiatives in Viet Nam based on key recommendations from the analysis study.
Core Functions/Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) and Head of Programme Unit IOM Viet Nam and the direct supervision of the Migration Health Project Development and Implementation Officer, the successful candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
