Vacancy of Project Coordinator
The Project Office of the Danish Deaf Association (DDL) in collaboration with the Hanoi Deaf Association (HAD) are seeking a Project Coordinator for the project “Make Deaf people and Sign Language visible in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City” to be implemented from June 2020 to May 2023. The project is funded by The Danish Disability Fund, which is managed by DPOD on behalf of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. This office is granted Certificate of Operation by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs through PACCOM.
The partners of the project are the major organizations of deaf people in 3 major cities in Vietnam: Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Three main objectives of this project are to strengthen the capacity building of the organizations, to advocate for the rights of deaf people, and to train sign language interpreter trainers (ToT).
To kick off the project, we are looking for experienced candidates to fill the position of Project Coordinator, who will play a crucial role in project implementation. The selected person is to start working as soon as possible.
Position type: full time, contract term corresponds with project lifespan from 2020 to 2023. Contract extension can be considered in accordance with the Danish donor’s approval. The Project Office is based in Hanoi.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The project coordinator for DDL in Denmark and HAD in Vietnam will have the two main duties: function as a project administrator and as a coordinator/advisor/coach for the project/HAD. This means:

Selection Criteria and Qualifications
Candidates are not expected to fulfil each requirement mentioned in selection criteria and qualifications.
Candidates that are not fluent in Hanoi sign language are encouraged to apply, but it is expected that the person chosen for the position is willing to learn Hanoi Sign Language. As there are deaf colleagues working at the office, ability to respect deaf people and deaf culture is required.
The project coordinator will work under guidance and in cooperation with the DDL head office in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Project Coordinator will be a part of a team of five colleagues at the Hanoi office. An introduction to DDL development values, principles, guidelines, and standards will be provided.
Previous knowledge of Danish values and standards is not required.
