For an Artisan to provide vocational training on Lepironia articulata weaving
Under Women Economic Empowerment activity in Thua Thien Hue Province
I. BACKGROUND
ECODIT is implementing the USAID-funded Green Annamites activity (the GA Project) in Quang Nam (QN) and Thua Thien Hue (TTH) provinces in central Vietnam. The Green Annamites aims to assist Vietnam’s transition to climate-smart, low emission, and resilient development that protects people, landscapes, and biodiversity in Vietnam’s priority forested provinces. The project’s overall period of performance is September 26, 2016 to December 16, 2020, subject to the availability of funding, and includes three main Tasks:
The GA project built up a tripod partnership with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policy (VBSP) and the Women’s Union (WU) in TTH for economic empowerment of vulnerable women through startup promotion, value chain enhancement, finance accessibility and microfinance. It is expected that this partnership would facilitate at least one women-led start-up which works to increase income for at least 15 vulnerable women in the province. Thus, ECODIT is partnering with Hue Viet Organic One Member Joint Stock Company for Lepironia articulata handicraft value chain development with aim at women economic empowerment in Phong Binh commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province.
Under the partnership between the GA project and Hue Viet Organic One Member Joint Stock Company, the GA project will perform the activity namely “training for the local craftswomen on skills to produce handicraft products from Lepironia articulata”.
