WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:
World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization working to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities living in poverty. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. As a child-focused organization, World Vision’s work focuses on children, ensuring they are protected and their basic needs are met.
World Vision International in Vietnam (WVI Vietnam) is implementing 36 Sponorship funded Area Programmes (APs) which operate in 14 provinces. Beside the Sponsorship funded APs, WVI Vietnam is also implementing Grant funded Projects to meet the specific needs of vulnerable children in both Area Programs and non-Area Program areas.
The 2018 National Baseline Survey (NBS) from WVI Vietnam, conducted across14 provinces where WVI Vietnam has programs, indicates that the most common form of child abuse in Vietnam is physical violence, with an alarming proportion of 33.2% or 1,503 children and adolescents (out of the total 4,523 children and adolescents surveyed) reporting having experienced physical violence in the previous 12 months preceding the survey; 19.2% of the 1,503 children experienced violence from their peers.
With the funding from Orion Foundation and Orion Food Vina through World Vision Korea, World Vision Vietnam is collaborating with local authorities to implement the grant project “Building “Hope in class” to end violence against children at school” in two Northen provinces: Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa covering 20 schools and reaching an estimated 10,000 children.
I. Purpose of consultancy service
The training is required to help key participants from target schools of the project learn the campaign dance and later on teach the campaign dance choreography to children at the target schools.
II. Approach
- Based on the existing campaign dance in this link:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CSGpx846pNrxvUmBvFOWyjzpSt4CjyCi?usp=sharing, the trainer will develop a lesson plan for 2 days of teaching and send it to project team to get approval. - A trainer will train existing campaign dance for 20 key participants who are chosen from 20 target schools in the list of beneficiaries of the project (Appendix attached).
III. Tentative venue and timeline
- The course will be held in Phuong Hoang hotel: 998 Hung Vuong Avenue, Dong Hai ward, Thanh Hoa city from 17 – 18th September 2020.
IV. Expected Outputs
- All coaches are able to dance the choreography of project with project song in Vietnamese properly.
- All coaches are able to teach others in applying this campaign dance.
- All participated schools/ participants have plans to deliver the dance in their schools.
V. Deliverables
These deliverables should be submitted to WVI Vietnam at the beginning of the course:
- Training plan of trainer
- Video exercises of trainees
- Roll out training plan of trainee
VI. Estimated budget for consultant
The estimated budget for the consultancy service is 5,000,000 VND, inclusive of travelling and accommodation
VII. Required experience for a trainer
- Have experience in teaching dance for child-based projects.
- Have good skills of dance pedagogy.
- Assure that safe dance techniques are being practiced in a large place.
- Teach warm-up and cool-down exercises that are in line with current teaching practices.
- Use positive and inclusive language when addressing the class.
