We are looking for a Vietnamese national for:

• Vacancy: Consultant(s) to create adolescent club facilitator’s guide to conduct club sessions under adolescent development program.
• Location: Hanoi

1. Objective of advisory service:

To develop a practical and comprehensive guide for adolescent club facilitator to conduct club sessions. The content should cover core and optional adolescent reproductive health topics, allowing facilitators to select the most suitable topics for their own clubs based on the needs and interests of their students.  

2. Scope of work:

The advisor is responsible for creating the adolescent club facilitator’s guide. Specific tasks include the following:

• Topics to be covered in the club sessions: The consultant should select diverse reproductive health topics which are suitable for adolescents aged 12-15. Topics should include, but not be limited to, the following: 1) Sex; Gender; Gender equality; 2) Friendship; Love; Marriage; 3) Male and female bodies; Male and female reproductive organs; 4) Puberty; 5) Sex; 6) Should I have sex?; 7) Safe sex; 8) Contraceptive methods; 9) Am I pregnant?; 10) How is the embryo taken shape?; 11) Sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS and gynecological diseases; 12) Child sexual abuse; 13) Child marriage; Early marriage; Consanguine marriage. The consultant is encouraged to suggest additional topics. SC staff will work closely with the consultant to finalize the list of covered topics.
• Content for the club activities should use a peer-to-peer education approach and be guided by a teacher. The sessions are ideally implemented once or twice per month.
• This facilitator’s guide should include at least 20 club sessions covering the above mentioned topics. For broader topics, they can be divided into 2-3 sessions. The first club session is devoted for club members to get to know what to expect from their participation, deciding the topics they want to learn more, discussing club regulations and voting the club management board. This guide should have detailed plan for each club session, providing detailed instructions on how to carry out each step of a club session, from preparing materials (stationery, visual equipment, etc.) to actually running the session (warm up, sharing from previous session, introduction the key content, conclusion, practical application, question and answer, etc.). The recommended length of time for each step should be specified and suitable illustrations/pictures should be included. While each session will cover different topics, they will follow more or less the same format.
• A club session should last about 45 minutes (equal to 01 lesson at secondary education level) for two times per month.
• Design should be appropriate for lower secondary school students aged 12 – 15, and to accommodate groups of 25 – 30 per club (includes boys and girls). Gender issues should be considered throughout the development of this guide, for example single sex group discussion might be suggested for highly sensitive topics.   

3. Expected results:  

An easy-to-use and comprehensive adolescent club facilitator’s guide with detailed instructions on how to deliver club sessions. This facilitator’s guide is expected to enable facilitators who do not have a background in health and communication to confidently run their club. This guide should also give them the flexibility in selecting diverse topics that best address the needs of their club members.  

4. Time frame: 

The expected deadline is 21/12/2020.

5. Report:

The Advisor will report directly to the Program Manager and work closely with the AD thematic lead.

6. Requirements for Advisor:

• A bachelor’s degree in health, reproductive health, public health or related majors
• At least 5 years’ experience in relevant fields
• Experience in creating and adapting instructional materials / organizing communication content / activities about adolescent reproductive health
• Experience in adolescent reproductive health, as well as group and peer-to-peer education approaches
• Experience providing reproductive health information to adolescents and health workers in remote areas (mountainous areas)
• Strong English skills are preferable but it is not a must.

7. Quality warranty responsibility:

The Advisor takes responsible for guaranteeing the quality of the advisory services. SC will identify the candidate with the required qualifications and experience and make sure that assignments are carried out effectively. SC will work closely with the selected Advisor to guarantee that all product outcomes meet the desired requirements.
