JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – LABORATORY QUALITY MANAGER

The University of North Carolina in Vietnam is a research organization of the University of North Carlina at Chapel Hill, USA. Our missions are conducting clinical research of new treatment methods for HIV prevention, TB treatment, mental health in both treatment and behavior changes for people living with HIV, TB patients, men who have sex with men, and people who inject the drug. Our partners are Hanoi Medical University, Hospitals in Hanoi, Provincial CDCs nationwide, the National Lung Hospital. We are conducting clinical trials of HIV/AIDS Prevention Trial Network (HPTN) and AIDS Clinical Trial Group (ACTG). To expand our operations, we are now seeking a talented, dedicated, and committed individual to join our team.

Position:         Laboratory Quality Manager
                       Full-time, based in Hanoi

Report to:       In-Country Director

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Quality Manager will work closely with the Head of Laboratories of Hospitals whom UNC have cooperated with to:

• Plan and implement quality management system (Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) across all laboratories that UNC Vietnam cooperated with.
• Coordinate and train lab staff to supervise and implement document management system, instrument management system, specimens transportation system.
• Work as the key contact person on all quality-related issues at UNC Vietnam to the study-laboratory leaderships
• Make a plan and supervise the implementation of test validation and external quality assurance plans for all UNC Vietnam laboratories.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervise UNC-related laboratories to maintain document control system for UNC Vietnam laboratories' operation-related documents. These include organization of documents, maintaining document control system (support stakeholder lab in writing policy, procedures, SOPs, work instructions), instrument records management.
• Support Head of UNC-related laboratories in conducting routine laboratory audits, follow-up audit reports, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Contribute to developing and supervising test validation plan for new study-tests
• Contribute in supervising the implementation of the external quality control of study-tests
• Delegate tasks and duties for lab staff at the project sites and lab project officer of UNC
• Develop laboratory standardized operating procedures (SOPS) for UNC’ research studies;

Required qualification and skills:

• Bachelor degree’s in Medicine, Public Health,  or other Health Sciences.
• 5 years in laboratory quality control.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Good knowledge of the good clinical laboratory practice (GCLP).
• Meticulous attention to detail.
