FHI 360 is an international non-governmental organization that, in Vietnam, promotes the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people, particularly vulnerable and marginalized populations. It works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health and other national bodies, as well as provincial and district-level health services to achieve project aims.
FHI 360 is currently implementing programs to address HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; combatting trafficking in persons; tuberculosis case finding and treatment; clinical research; anti-microbial resistance; health system strengthening; non-communicable diseases; maternal and child health and nutrition; and diagnostic and laboratory services.
We are currently seeking qualified and highly motivated Vietnamese candidates to fill in the Project Lead position for the Fleming Fund Country Grant for Vietnam - Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance in Vietnam, based in Hanoi.
Project Description:
FHI 360 seeks a Project Lead for the extension period of the Fleming Fund Country Grant for Vietnam - Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance in Vietnam. The Country Grant will address critical gaps in surveillance of antibiotic resistant bacteria in Vietnam. This grant will support implementation of national plans for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, and will focus on selected number of AMR surveillance sites in the human health (HH) sector and support to the animal health (AH) sector. We will work closely with local entities that are already involved in AMR/AMU surveillance, oversight and improvement activities, local and national Technical Working Groups, national and regional reference laboratories for human and animal health, other government and national and international non-government stakeholders, and Mott MacDonald, the Fleming Fund Management Agent.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Project Lead will utilize his/her technical capabilities in public health program management, infectious disease epidemiology and/or surveillance to help the project to implement, monitor and evaluate AMR/AMU resistance surveillance activities that are set out to improve laboratory capacity, policies, strategies, plans and systems for infection prevention and control. The position is expected to continue to build and engage in the already existing collaborative relationships with project staff and internal and external clients and partners. The Project Lead will bring innovative ideas, methodologies and approaches to problems associated with AMR and infectious disease surveillance and response in the global setting. Qualifications:
The suitable expert will be a senior public health professional with at least 10 - 15 years’ experience managing/directing projects, technically supporting HH laboratories and sector and one or more of the following technical areas: laboratory diagnosis of AMR, AMR/AMU surveillance management of microbiology laboratory, external quality assurance of data, disease surveillance within low and middle-income countries, health system strengthening in low and middle-income countries or public health. Experience working in a senior position of a major international development project is desirable. Experience working with government particularly Ministry of Health and international non-governmental organizations, or bi- and multi-lateral agencies or UN agencies is a clear advantage.
