ESSENTIAL SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED BY MANAGER, FARM ANIMAL WELFARE - Through direct engagement, workshops and related outreach, obtain commitments from national and multi-national corporations and companies and ensure successful implementation of existing higher animal welfare commitments in Vietnam (25%);
- In coordination with the Senior Director of Market Engagement provide strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning and milestones for corporate, producer, and financial institutional engagement in Vietnam while supporting the greater strategic plan, mission and goals of the HSI Farm Animal Welfare and Protection department and coordinating actions with the global HSI Farm Animals team (15%);
- Organize events (whether in-person or virtual) such as technical workshops for egg producers on cage-free egg production and corporate animal welfare roundtables for food company representatives in Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia. Recruit speakers and encourage attendance by relevant stakeholders (15%).
- Research and identify food and hospitality companies and their supply chain partners (producers and brokers) in Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia with significant egg procurement and other relevant food industry stakeholders (including but not limited to industry associations and private and public financial institutions). Expand and maintain HSI’s existing database of these stakeholders and manage engagement and coordination of outreach with them, ensuring coordination with country campaigners working with the same entities outside of Vietnam (10%).
- Build relationships, serve as a primary resource on farm animal welfare issues, and maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including through regular phone-calls and traveling as needed to conduct in-person meetings to encourage and support their efforts to adopt and implement cage-free and crate-free policies, and by sending them bi-weekly email updates on animal welfare progress in the food industry (10%).
- Represent HSI at relevant food industry conferences and events in Southeast Asia by both presenting to attendees, advocating for HSI goals, and building relationships with stakeholders and decision makers (5%),
- Remain in close collaboration with government partners to identify and implement initiatives in promoting higher animal welfare standards, specifically with regard to cage-free and crate-free systems (5%).
- Submit monthly written campaign updates that summarize the work completed, successes accomplished, and that explains plans for work in the weeks ahead. Remain in regular contact with HSI Project Manager, Regional Coordinator and headquarters’ staff through e-mail messages and weekly calls, attend regularly scheduled HSS calls on corporate/ producer engagement, finance initiative, and monthly global Farm calls (5%).
- Draft, edit and disseminate approved press releases, social media and other communications’ materials relating to the cage- and crate-free initiative, ensuring these communications are approved by HQ team and HQ communications. (5%)
- Other requests as may be made from time to time by the Project Manager (5%).
