Location: Hanoi (with frequent travels to other provinces)

BACKGROUND

The Project on Enhancing Sustainable Natural Resource Management Phase 2 (SNRM2) is a bilateral technical cooperation project funded and assisted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with the project duration of four years from May 2021 to May 2025, to succeed the JICA funded Sustainable Natural Resource Management Project (SNRM, 2015 – 2020).

The JICA/SNRM2 consists of six key components, of which ‘Enhancing National Forest Resource Monitoring System’ (Component 4) is being promoted and implemented by the main consultant firm, the Japan Forest Technology Association (JAFTA), with two activities of ‘4-1 Assist in improving forest monitoring system.’ and ‘4-2 Build capacity of central and provincial government agencies on operation of forest resources monitoring system.’.

To accelerate and to expand the activities, JAFTA is seeking for a qualified forestry IT assistance with below recruitment conditions.

OBJECTIVES

The overall objective of this position is to provide technical supports to the VNFOREST’s FRMS users include training courses in the forms of Training of Trainers (ToT) or On-Job Training (OJT).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Providing technical support on daily operation of the VNFOREST’s FRMS (including FRMS Mobile, FRMS Desktop, FRMS Database) to its users at all levels;
Providing capacity enhancement on operation of the VNFOREST’s FRMS through regular trainings at central and provincial levels;
Assisting in optimization and/or bug-fixing of the VNFOREST’s FRMS;
Other duties when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor in Silviculture (University graduated) is a must;
Fluency in both Vietnamese and English is highly prioritized;
Good skills on Remote Sensing and GIS science are highly prioritized;
Experiences in event and training organization are essential;
Experiences in working as a trainer are preferred;
Good knowledge about VNFOREST’s FRMS is a plus;
Good knowledge about advanced programming languages is a plus;
Cheerful attitude, detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team;
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and take initiatives;
Availability to start working and travelling in short advance notice is a plus.
