HIRING AN INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT TO IMPLEMENT SHIFT PROGRAM
Save the Children is the leading global independent organisation for children.Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. Around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children’s unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.
SHIFT is a campaign accelerator designed by Save the Children that supports young activists (aged 15- 25 years) to design and deliver public campaigns for social or environmental change. Our focus is on utilising emerging digital platforms that support young people to express their views and mobilise audiences. Shift uses a co-creation methodology designed through consultation with young people themselves – providing the tools, networks, resources and skills required to effectively mobilise audiences on issues that matter most to them. Beyond the change we seek to bring about through individual campaigns, Shift also builds the confidence and skills of young community activists. To do this we have adopted an experiential model, with a focus on learning while doing. A seed funding mechanism is also used so that Shift participants can step beyond campaign theory and implement the campaign they’ve designed. Shift is a model that can be easily adopted by Save the Children teams, with support from a specialised Shift support team.
