Bread for the World (BftW) is a German non-government ecclesial organisation working throughout the world with the objective to contribute to an inclusive socio-economic development to overcome poverty. Guiding principles are social justice and ecological responsibility.
The regional office (RO) in Hanoi is cooperating with local and international partner organisations since 1996.
We are looking for a consultant for “International exchange” –facilitation of reflection sessions.

Background
In Laos, Bread for the World is facilitating a Training and Exchange Program on Participatory and Empowerment Approaches among four of its partner organizations. The Program is supported and accompanied by the BftW Regional Office in Vietnam as well as BftW’s Consultancy Unit in Germany. The program focuses on the practical work of field staff, including topics as participatory facilitation of groups, community organizing, holistic needs assessment as well as participatory context analysis, decision-making processes, and negotiation skills.
The upcoming Module 6 concludes the training and exchange program and will take place during six days in Quezon Province, Philippines. Four Lao partner organizations and one Vietnamese partner organization of BftW will visit the national farmers network MASIPAG. Sharing and learning will take place at the national office of MASIPAG and during community visits, where participants will exchange with MASIPAG community leaders on their self-organization. Participants will stay for three nights at the communities.
Schedule of reflection sessions between four Lao organizations, 1 Vietnamese organization, MASIPAG:
Day 2: getting to know each other, sharing of empowerment approaches
Day 3-5: afternoon sessions: reflection on new insights
Day 6: final reflections and how to integrate learnings into their own contexts and work
The working language for the training is English with translation into Lao, Vietnamese and Filipino.
Purpose
Design and facilitation of reflection sessions for Lao and Vietnamese organizations during the international exchange in a way that they can transfer learnings to their own context and area of work
General objective
Participants know different empowerment approaches from different contexts and discuss their relevance for their own work
Specific objective
Participants have gained practical experience in applying people-led approaches at community level
Description of assignment
The tasks to be completed by the consultant include:
The consultant will organize his/her own travel to Manila, the Philippines. The contract will include national flight to Manila. BftW will cover food and accommodation.
