The Mekong Delta Climate Resilience Programme (MCRP) (2019-2025) is the development program that is funded by the governments of Viet Nam and Germany and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The programme objective is the climate-resilient management of natural resources in coastal areas of the Mekong Delta is improved to ensure sustainable development in the region. The MCRP has 4 module objective indicators as bellows:
Module objective indicator 1: 11 investment decisions on climate-resilient water resource management in urban and rural areas are taken by key actors (e.g., line ministries, provinces) based on agreed regional coordination mechanisms.
Module objective indicator 2: 5 feasibility studies for water-sensitive and climate-resilient investments in urban and rural areas in the Mekong Delta forecasting a 20% reduction in anticipated climate and disaster-related damage have been ratified by the Regional Coordinating Council.
Module objective indicator 3: 4 innovative interventions in water management and erosion protection secure 400,000 ha of rural production areas.
Module objective indicator 4: By 2025, 3 cities in the Mekong Delta have each invested EUR 16.5 million a year in water-sensitive and climate-smart infrastructure.
The programme’s target group comprises the people living in the urban and rural areas of the Mekong Delta who depend on sustainable natural resource management. With respect to the nearly 21 million inhabitants in all (2019), the interventions and results of the measures essentially concern around 5% of households, or 1 million inhabitants, in selected cities and rural areas, including coastal zones in the 13 provinces of the Mekong Delta. In terms of regional coordination and investment planning, the programme targets the entire Mekong Delta (13 provinces).
The program is looking for a qualified national candidate to fulfil the following position:
Junior Program Officer in Aquaculture “MCRP”
Duty station: Hanoi, Vietnam
Duration: ASAP until 31.12.2025 with possibility of extension
