EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN PUBLIC HEALTH
FHI 360 is an international non-governmental organization that, in Vietnam, promotes the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people, particularly vulnerable and marginalized populations. It works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health and other national bodies, as well as provincial and district-level health services to achieve project aims. FHI 360 is currently implementing programs to address HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; combatting trafficking in persons; COVID-19; tuberculosis case finding and treatment; clinical research; anti-microbial resistance; health system strengthening; non-communicable diseases; maternal and child health and nutrition; and diagnostic and laboratory services.
The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is a five-year, global project focused on HIV, COVID-19, and combatting trafficking in persons using funding from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the United States Agency for International Development. EpiC is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Vietnamese candidate to serve as a Senior Technical Officer or Technical Specialist on the COVID-19 team based in Hanoi. This is a full-time, limited term position (9 to 12 months). Final job title will be determined based on experience.
Main responsibilities:
Technical Excellence
- Collaborate with provincial and site leaders to determine technical training needs for clinicians, administrators, and engineers to successfully use liquid medical oxygen systems
- Develop training program and curriculum for the use of liquid medical oxygen
- Co-deliver trainings to clinicians, administrators, and engineers in partnership with contracted experts
- Liaise with sites receiving liquid oxygen equipment and infrastructure to understand technical needs
- Consolidate data and analyze a national assessment of medical oxygen infrastructure and equipment
- Write and edit reports in English and Vietnamese
Project Coordination
- Project manage an assessment of 49 central and provincial hospitals on existing medical oxygen infrastructure and equipment including current situation and needs
- Oversee consultants working on trainings, assessments, and workshops
- Contribute to provincial efforts to receive approval for donations of liquid oxygen equipment
- Work with governmental partners to submit the training plan and complete necessary procedures to obtain approval to conduct trainings and relevant conferences/workshops
- Participate in national and international technical working groups to ensure lessons learned from other countries and provinces are used to improve implementation in Vietnam and globally
- Support the development and execution of events to celebrate achievement of technical deliverables or share the work with high-level US Government and Government of Vietnam stakeholders
- Develop and grow partnerships vital to the success of the project, especially with USAID, the MOH, various DOH and other partners working on COVID-19 interventions
Experience and abilities for the position:
- A bachelors’ or masters’ in public health, medicine, engineering, laboratory sciences or a related field
- Experience working with the Ministry of Health and departments of health including on implementation and aid approval, experience working with the National Tuberculosis Program and/or Global Fund is an added benefit
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical trainings and manage both qualitative and quantitative data
- Must have strong organizational skills and be able to prioritize
- Able to manage tight deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Vietnamese
- Ability to travel as necessary
