ILRI Vacancy: Research Officer I – Vietnam (Closing date: 14 February 2023)
The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Research Officer I to coordinate the design and implementation of the ICT4health and CGIAR initiative One Health Zoonoses Work package in Vietnam.
ILRI works to improve food security and nutrition, and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 11 CGIAR research centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, ILRI has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org
Background
ILRI is implementing two projects which are the ICT4Health project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Republic of Korea and the CGIAR Initiative on Protecting Human Health through a One Health Approach (One Health initiative). These two projects use a One Health approach to addressing the threat of zoonotic diseases in Vietnam. It also strengthens the capacities of national partners in surveillance, early detection and emergency response, disease prevention and control and laboratory science (serology and diagnostics). The project will inform policy formulation to improve the management of transboundary animal and emerging zoonotic diseases at the interface of human, wildlife, livestock and environment.
Key responsibilities:
The research officer will support the implementation of two projects in the province of Dong Nai, Hoa Binh and Lao Cai province in collaboration with the different national partners and institutions.

Terms of Appointment
This position is at job level HG13 and it is only open to Vietnam nationals. The position is a 2-year fixed term contract. ILRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes pension, medical and other insurances.
