We are seeking a dynamic, innovative individual who is passionate about increasing access to quality care and improving health systems in Viet Nam. At the Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam (HAIVN) we work with HIV clinics, Ministry of Health, local health authorities and the community to reduce barriers to HIV treatment and optimize a people-centered approach to healthcare. To do this, we hire bright individuals who are eager to engage with our team and our partners and apply evidence-based solutions to health care.

Through a cooperative agreement with the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), our team brings clinical and technical backgrounds to expand, standardize, and integrate the Vietnam National HIV program at the national level. We collaborate with the Vietnam Administration for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC) and provincial Departments of Health to build the capacity of health workers in HIV prevention and treatment, improve the quality of care provided to people living with HIV. Our work supports the goal of ending AIDS by 2030.

HAIVN is seeking a Project Coordinator, based in Hanoi, responsible for planning, coordinating and providing technical assistance in HIV prevention, care and treatment activities in the north of Vietnam. We are looking for someone with a clinical background, particularly in areas of HIV, infectious disease, public health or internal medicine. The person in this role should feel comfortable facilitating trainings and providing one-on-one mentorship to external stakeholders. If no experience specific in HIV, candidates will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and interest in the topic. S/he will need to become comfortable presenting and answering questions about topics such as key population (KP) care, stigma and discrimination, prevention methods and the importance of patient health literacy.

Job Location: This position will be based in Hanoi with travel to project sites in Vietnam.

Overall Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator in HIV prevention, care, and treatment will bring public health and technical expertise to support the implementation and achievement of project goals. S/he will provide training and technical assistance in HIV and related fields and will support efforts to develop models of person-centered HIV care in Vietnam. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of sub-projects with HAIVN partners located in Hanoi and the northern provinces. S/he will work under the technical direction of the HAIVN Project Director, based in Hanoi.

Specific Responsibilities:

50% of time - Training

  • Conduct virtual and in-person trainings on HIV prevention, person-centered models of HIV care, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and antiretroviral therapy (ART) delivery
  • Develop training materials and keep up to date on evidence-based HIV research, care innovations, and delivery models
  • Coordination of training events and workshops in compliance with local regulations and approval requirements

30% of time – Clinical Mentoring and Technical Assistance

  • Provide technical input to the National HIV Program in the development of national guidelines, circulars, action plans, and training materials
  • Travel to health centers to provide clinical mentoring on HIV treatment and care delivery
  • Develop, revise, and adapt training materials, job aides, and patient information materials, etc.

10% of time - External Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build capacity of provincial partners (e.g., provincial Centers for Disease Control, and health facilities) for monitoring program quality and addressing gaps when identified
  • Develop and deliver presentations to share outcomes and lessons learned from HAIVN’s initiatives with various stakeholders including US CDC, VAAC, PEPFAR, and other partner agencies.  
  • Develop and track capacity building plans for community partners including community-based organizations (CBOs), social enterprises, and key-population- (KP) led clinics.

10% of time – Project Management and Evaluation

  • Develop and track sub-project work plans and budgets and assist HAIVN partners in the planning, monitoring, and implementation of project activities
  • Contribute to the writing of project reports, technical briefs, success stories, and other communication

Required Experience

  • Medical Doctorate from Vietnamese Institution
  • At least 5 years of experience in public health implementation
  • Experience working with international donor funded projects

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to provide training, mentoring and coaching to health workers and managers
  • Ability to write technical documents such as training curricula, operating procedures, and technical briefs.
  • Fluency in Vietnamese and English including reading, speaking and writing
  • Able to work effectively in a complex international environment
  • Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Good computer and information technology skills
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Able to work both independently and as team member
  • Able to work under pressure, to meet deadlines
  • Able and willing to travel within Vietnam
  • Passionate about empowering clients and community and improving the lives of people living with HIV

Position Type: Full-Time, ability to travel 25% of the time
