BACKGROUND
IUCN is a membership Union consist of 1,400 government and civil society organizations and 1,800 experts, which makes IUCN the global authority on the status of the natural world and measures to safeguard it. In Vietnam, IUCN has one state member, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), and nine local organizations as members. IUCN works closely with MONRE to support the policy development and protection measures to conserve biodiversity and natural resources, such as ecosystem-based adaption, nature-based solutions and other effective area-based conservation measures. With a growing portfolio, there is a need for a senior programme officer to work closely with government, local and international NGOs and development partners on a wide range of biodiversity conservation projects.
This is a local recruitment. Only Vietnamese nationals are eligible to apply. The remuneration and benefits package for this position is established with reference to the local labour market and in line with the IUCN conditions of service for Viet Nam.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Biodiversity Coordinator will lead the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of IUCN’s biodiversity and protected and conserved areas work in Viet Nam, including application of the IUCN Green List (GL) to assess protected area management effectiveness. He/she will lead proposal preparation and fund raising, and represent IUCN externally to government, donors, and other partners.
