I. BACKGROUND

Action on Poverty (AOP) is an independent, secular, non-governmental Australian organisation, based in Sydney. AOP empowers local changemakers to break the cycle of entrenched poverty in some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. From teaching an Ethiopian family to grow their own food to sending Cambodian girls to school, we target communities with their own vision for change, and help them make the largest impact possible.

We have worked in Vietnam since 1989 and proudly registered as the first Australian NGO in the country in 1996. Our programs focus on health improvement, income generation, good governance, social monitoring, food security and climate resilience enhancement. By partnering with a broad range of stakeholders, including governmental authorities, CSOs and local communities, AOP has supported thousands of vulnerable and disadvantaged people living across 20 provinces in Vietnam.

II. PURPOSE

To ensure the compliance with Vietnam and relevant international regulations, AOP in Vietnam, is looking for legal services to support operations in Vietnam.

III. MAIN RESPONSIBILIES

Key responsibilities

Specific task

To provide legal advice and professional support services.

(1)  To give timely and quality advice as well as support services if required to handle: Legal queries/documents External and internal relations issues Finance compliance issues Human Resources compliance issues Operations compliance issues (2)  To timely update the customer organizations changes/amendments of Vietnamese Laws and regulations and/or other international Laws and regulations and make recommendations for changes to the customer organization. (3)  Other advisory tasks as required not exceeding the responsibility scope

IV. REQUIREMENT

Qualification and language:

Relevant academic qualification

Experience:

Legal advisory experience. Experience working with INGOs is preferred

Adherence to AOP policies

• Prevent of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse 
• Child Protection 
• Values, Ethics and Corporate Conduct 

V. DURATION

Starting from August 2023.

VI. COST

The cost fo the service is based on AOP VN cost norms.
