Senior Communications Officer

The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) is the voice of the European business community in Vietnam. EuroCham was established in 1998 and is a members-based, independent, not for profit organisation of European companies who are investing in Vietnam, for the benefit of all. With more than 1,400 members, EuroCham is one of the biggest foreign chambers of commerce in Vietnam. EuroCham represents a plethora of sectors and sizes, ranging from SMEs to MNCs with a very strong business network in both Vietnam and Europe. Acting as an intermediary between our members - the business community - and local, national, regional, and European authorities, EuroCham advocates on its members' behalf, to generate improvements in the business environment, raise awareness on key recommendations and disseminate information relating to doing business in Vietnam.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Internal: Executive Director (ED), Board of Directors (BoDs), other departments within EuroCham
  • External: EuroCham members, local and international media organisations / groups, external service providers

Main Duties and Key Performance Indicators:

 

Communication Strategy and Oversight

  • Develop audience-focused, long-term communication strategies to support the organisation's overall goals and objectives.
  • Provide consistent messaging guidance for all communication materials.
  • Manage quarterly evaluations of communication strategies.

Media Relations and Management

  • Serve as EuroCham's primary point of contact for all media requests
  • Develop EuroCham’s media strategy (identifying key media outlets, writing compelling narratives, planning and executing media campaigns, and leveraging various platforms to enhance EuroCham's visibility and influence) aligned with EuroCham BoDs, ED and under the supervision of the Head of MarCom.
  • Build and maintain strong local and international journalist relationships, expanding EuroCham's media presence.
  • Strategically showcase achievements and priorities in global media.
  • Manage press releases, coordinate interviews, speeches, media articles, and ensure consistent messaging and a significant and positive media presence at EuroCham events as well as external event.
  • Coordinate online and offline interviews with EuroCham's BoDs, ED and Sector Committees (SCs), managing journalist participation and scheduling.
  • Support advocacy efforts in designing and executing impactful advocacy campaigns (articles, reports, etc.) towards external media, aligning with strategic objectives.

Content Creation, Planning, and Management

  • Lead the creation and implementation of an annual editorial calendar.
  • Lead Media Communications, including EuroCham's Weekly Newsletter, Messages from the Chairman, as well as weekly eblasts.
  • Oversee the entire Business Confidence Index (BCI) survey process from planning to distribution.
  • Oversee the development and management of EuroCham’s website content.
  • Assist in reviewing and proof reading EuroCham yearly White Book
  • Liaise with the social media responsible to ensure effective messaging dissemination
  • Direct reports, survey and articles on noteworthy EuroCham activities.
  • Management of EuroCham Business Awards.
  • Create and maintain a style guide for EuroCham’s written communications under the supervision of the Head of MarCom.
  • Create and maintain a list of key facts, stats and anecdotes that can be reference in EuroCham communications, speeches, etc. under the supervision of the Head of MarCom.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Training Background:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing or Communication or in a related field.
  • Master's Degree is a strong plus.

Work Experience:

Minimum 5 year of relevant work experience

Core Competencies:

 

  • Top-tier written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders, including media outlets, chamber members, and internal teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Vietnamese media landscape (Europe a strong plus), including journalists and outlets that cover topics related to the EuroCham activities.
  • Strong networking skills and be able to develop and maintain relationships with media contacts.
  • Top-tier writing skills in English (Vietnamese is a strong plus), attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to conduct research on media outlets, journalists, and bloggers to identify opportunities for coverage of chamber activities.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other teams, to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication.
  • Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and work efficiently to meet deadlines.

Languages:

Native level of written and spoken English.

Vietnamese is a strong plus.

Software and Package Skills:

  • Good computer skills, including with Microsoft Office
