ILRI Internship opportunity: Social media and Communications Intern in Hanoi, Vietnam (Closing date: 30 July 2024)
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a social media and communications Intern. This position will be based in Hanoi, Vietnam and the intern will support its social media promotion and related communication work in the country office, enhancing visibility and profile in Vietnam.
ILRIs’ mission is that people’s lives in low- and middle-income countries are improved through livestock science that contributes to equitable and resilient livestock systems in order to deliver food systems transformation with climate and environmental benefits. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR Research Centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Communication Officer (CO), the intern will assist with the following tasks:
Social media
- Support the daily management of ILRI Vietnam’s social media platforms (Facebook and TikTok) by publishing and scheduling posts. All the draft posts must be sent to the CO for final review and posting.
- Design engaging visual and written weekly content for social media platforms in coordination with the CO.
- Monitor and track strategic engagement by collecting data and analysing traction.
- Proactively research and report on emerging trends and events across key target audiences, identifying new opportunities for increased visibility.
- Conduct research on new social media tools and best practices, providing insights into new dissemination approaches.
- Support visual design requests and deliverables (videos and social media visuals).
- Support communication campaigns of ILRI Vietnam and in the region.
Other comms works
- Assist in translating communication materials (newsletter, brief, brochure, video subtitle).
- Take photos from the field and in meetings.
- Co-create featured stories on project impact.
- Support in the organization of events.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the CO
Internship requirements
The ideal candidate should:
- Be a Vietnamese citizen enrolled for an undergraduate university degree program who are in the last year of their study.
- Have some experience in media, communication, public relations, marketing, or other relevant course of study.
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Possess interest in sustainable development, communication and online media.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, exp. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Be proficient in using tools like Adobe Suite, Canva, and others for multimedia content production.
- Exhibit motivation for communications related work, responsive, have attention-to-detail and possess results-oriented working style.
Location: ILRI Hanoi, Vietnam.
Language required: English and Vietnamese.
Duration: 6 months.
Terms of appointment: The internship at ILRI will offer:
- A monthly stipend to cover accommodation, transport and day to day living expenses.
- Medical insurance for the internship duration.
