Humane Society International (HSI), an US-based NGO has its mission to animal protection and improve animal welfare. HSI works for the benefit of all type of animals, including wildlife, farm and companion animals.
HSI has started operating in Viet Nam since 2013. The office locates in Hanoi to coordinate the implementation of four main programs in the country, including Animals Disaster Response, Companion Animals and Engagement, Farm Animal Protection and Wildlife.
HSI in Vietnam invites applications from interested and experienced Vietnamese candidates for the Program Coordinator position. This position will:
- Support the planning and execution of CA&E campaign and programmatic activities aligned to theglobal strategy, including dog/ cat meat facility closures, investigation and rescue operations, and other campaign activities, in collaboration with CA&E HSI, country offices, staff and consultants, animal rescue departments of HSI and HSUS, and local and coalition partners and government officials to ensure strategic plan goals are met. (50%); and
- Provide support to the other programs implementation in Viet Nam ensuring its program goals and priorities are met efficiently (50%)

Essential duties and responsibilities:
VIET NAM DOG MEAT CAMPAIGN 50%
- Provide support for HSI’s dog and cat meat campaign, including participating in the development of strategic plans for national public awareness and political lobbying campaigns and programs in Viet Nam (20%).
- Support the planning and execution of campaign and programmatic activities, including:dog/ cat meat facility closures, rescue operations and other campaign activities, in collaboration with country offices, staff and consultants, animal rescue departments of HSI and HSUS, and local and coalition partners and government officials to ensure strategic plan goals are met. (15%)
- Support Viet Nam Program Manager in liaison with the Marketing & Communications and Philanthropy departments to to implement HQ’s instruction in social media and fundraising regarding HSI’s Viet Nam dog meat campaigns (5%)
- Assist with translations of documents as required (5%)
- Assist with writing campaign progress reports and updates, and conduct research as required.(5%)
VIET NAM CAMPAIGNS 50%
- Provide support to Viet Nam’s program including Companion Animals & Engagement, Farm Animals, Wildlife, and Disaster Response as well as other relevant initiatives (10%)
- Support the planning and execution of campaign and programmatic activities, including logistical arrangements for trainings, workshops, field trips, site visits, visa application for international experts and partners (10%)
- Manage administrative tasks such as monitoring payments of grants and service contracts, as well as prepare monthly imprest account records. Additionally, assist in the compiling of information for periodic governmental reporting (10%)
- Provide support in translation of documents and in meeting from and to English and Vietnamese when needed, such aswhen international experts meet with partner agencies in small-scale meetings. (10%)
- Support communications activities for building HSI brand and its campaigns in Viet Nam including, but not limited to responding to supporter inquiries, spreading social media posts, presentations, database searches and filing, and assisting with outreach efforts to the public, policymakers, organizations, and agencies. (5%)
- Assist with writing project plans with and for government partnerships for 4 programmatic areas (5%)
Requirement of the position:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communication, biology, veterinary, or animal welfare related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Experience working with program or project management, government, and international agencies, NGO sector, organized groups and communities.
- Experience in animal welfare, farm animals and/or companion animals and/or wildlife issues is an advantage.
- International travel experience required.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese
- Demonstrated knowledge of program management.
- Organizational, project, and priority management skills for planning, executing, and following up on issues, projects and daily responsibilities in order to meet established deadlines
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and professionalism with e-mail communications.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Basic analytic, organization and project management skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work well in teams.
- Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
- Experience with working or living overseas, an understanding of cultural sensitivity. Must be able to travel internationally.

- Must have ability to travel and to assist in field for various animal-related activities
- Ability to periodically work long days outside standard work hours.
- Ability to handle physical aspects of the job to include, but not limited to walking, jumping, reaching, moving, and lifting objects up to 60 pounds above head height.
- Ability to work around a wide variety of animals and in physically demanding and sometimes hazardous environments with potential exposure to zoonotic diseases
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions or in low light conditions with minimal visibility.
